Lou Delzompo Joins Apogee as Chief Technology Officer to Drive Innovation Agenda

Delzompo brings impressive record leading digital transformation, managed cloud services, application development, and large data analytics teams within higher education and the private sector

AUSTIN, Texas (Jan. 18, 2022) – Higher education industry veteran Louis “Lou” Delzompo recently joined Apogee, a leader in higher education managed technology services, as chief technology officer. In this executive leadership role, Delzompo is responsible for developing and implementing innovative and effective managed technology services strategies that serve the needs of US higher education, as well as ensuring that the company’s offerings meet and exceed the needs of its 400-plus higher education customers. He is responsible for product development and product management roadmaps and processes, including quality assurance, security, and data protection processes, for Apogee and for the company’s rapidly expanding college and university customer base.

“Lou’s decades of experience in working for and with the higher education sector made him the perfect CTO candidate for Apogee. I am excited to have Lou join our leadership team at such a pivotal and exciting juncture in our company’s evolution,” commented Scott Drossos, chief executive officer for Apogee. “Apogee is committed to solving higher education challenges and enriching the student experience by designing and delivering robust managed technology services to college campuses and residence halls. Lou will help us ensure that Apogee is always innovating and anticipating what’s next, while also focusing on the delivery of managed technology services and related education solutions that help campus IT teams unlock time to innovate.”

Prior to joining Apogee, Delzompo served eight years as CTO and enterprise architect at the California Community Colleges Technology Center (CCCTC), the technology hub serving the nation’s largest higher education system of 116 campuses with over two million students. Under Delzompo’s leadership, the CCCTC built, delivered, and managed a portfolio of system-wide applications, including the common application to college CCCApply, which processes over five million applications each year. He also led the creation of a system-wide integration solution (SuperGlue) and data warehouse (CCCData), all operating on an Amazon Web Services cloud platform. Due to Delzompo’s success driving cloud solutions at CCCTC, Amazon invited him to serve as a member of the Amazon Web Services Higher Education Advisory Board.

Delzompo also previously served as CTO at Parchment, a leading education provider of digital credentialing and e-transcripts for higher education and K-12. Earlier in his career, he served as CTO for Apple PowerSchool. Delzompo also co-founded and sold a software company that developed the first secure social media and collaboration platform built for K-12.

“I am impressed with what Apogee founder Charles “Chuck” Brady has done to establish Apogee as the ‘go to’ provider of managed technology services for higher education. Scott and the entire Apogee team are solid professionals who are making a positive difference in the lives of college and university students, faculty, and staff who are navigating a rapidly changing environment that has been made even more challenging because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Blended learning is here to stay, and the need for digital transformation has never been greater. Technology is essential to enabling and supporting the mission of higher education,” Delzompo said.

Delzompo earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of San Francisco and a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in Management from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He is a Certified Amazon Web Solutions (AWS) Solutions Architect, Certified Scrum Master, and a Chief Information Systems Officer Association (CISOA) Certified Chief Information Officer. He also has written and presented technology white papers and has served as a guest speaker at industry conferences and events.
