Apogee to Showcase Managed Technology Services at 2023 CISOA Technology Summit

Who:

Apogee, a leading managed IT services provider solely focused on higher education, is exhibiting and speaking at the 2023 Chief Information Systems Officers Association (CISOA) Technology Summit to showcase Apogee managed technology services. The CISOA Technology Summit is the premier, annual conference for California Community College IT professionals.

Apogee experts will be available in booth #303 to provide insights and share technology and higher ed expertise. Apogee supports a community of more than one million students and administrators at over 350 colleges and universities nationwide.

Apogee acquired Cumulus Technology Services Inc. last year to extend the strength of Apogee managed networking and IT services into the cloud and to create new opportunities for higher ed IT innovation. Colleges and universities that engage Apogee for these services can realize significant benefits such as enhancing student experiences and achieving competitive advantages.

Mike Rose, Apogee vice president of cloud services and application development, will co-present two sessions during this conference. Apogee leaders who are also attending include Lou Delzompo, Apogee campus CIO; Pat Walsh, regional vice president of sales; Dave Fuhrmann, vice president of cloud services and security solutions; and Rod Cooper, business development manager.

“The CISOA Technology Summit is an excellent platform for showcasing the depth and breadth of our managed technology services portfolio and the extensive higher education experience that the Apogee team brings, particularly in serving California community colleges,” said Lou Delzompo.

What:

“Institutions with Their Heads in the Clouds”

During this session, Mike Rose and Daman Grewal, chief technology officer at San Mateo County Community College District, will discuss why higher ed leaders chose to deploy institutional workloads to Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure and what the results have been. The panelists will cover the technical and financial aspects higher ed leaders should consider when choosing a cloud vendor. Attendees will hear two unique perspectives and have an opportunity to interact directly with the panelists.

“Expect the Unexpected – Preparing Banner for a Disaster”

College of the Sequoias (COS) will host this session to discuss how they built and tested Banner DR with the help of Apogee. Presenters include Mike Rose, David Richert, application manager at COS, and Ahsen Baig, cloud application engineer at COS. Attendees will learn how College of the Sequoias created a disaster recovery run book, simulated an outage of an Amazon Web Services (AWS) availability zone (AZ), failed over to a DR AZ, and ultimately restored service back to the primary AZ. Panelists will share lessons learned, challenges, techniques, AWS DR architecture and more.
