Apogee Appoints Industry Veteran, Teresa de Onís, as New Vice President of Marketing

Austin, TX – December 9, 2019 – With the goal of advancing company branding and sales, Apogee, higher education’s largest managed technology services provider, has named Teresa de Onís – former senior marketing executive at University of Texas at Austin and Dell Technologies – as Apogee’s new Vice President of Marketing. Known as a marketing change leader who forges strong connections with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders, de Onis brings 25 years of expertise in integrated marketing, change management, communications, and sales enablement to her new position.

“At Apogee, we have always celebrated proven leaders and innovative thinkers. Teresa embodies both in the highest order,” said Charles Brady, CEO and Founder of Apogee. “Her impressive track record building and implementing successful marketing programs is a key asset as Apogee scales and expands in response to the growing number of universities and colleges seeking our expertise to leverage various technologies to help meet their strategic missions.”

As Vice President of Marketing, de Onís will lead the company’s marketing strategy, and work closely with sales and business development teams in support of Apogee’s clients. She will drive the delivery of strong brand and product positioning and messaging, research and market segmentation, digital properties, events, classic and digital marketing, and sales enablement programs.

Most recently, de Onís consulted for a data management software company based in Austin, playing an integral role in returning the organization to profitability by repositioning the company and establishing a new brand identity, value proposition, and storyline. During her time there, she achieved a 9% share of voice in a crowded industry, 99% neutral-to-positive sentiment, and over 1B impressions per press release due to extensive media and analyst outreach.

Prior to her work as a consultant, de Onís was the Senior Director of Marketing at her alma mater, University of Texas at Austin, where she led the central marketing and creative services team in crafting a unified brand position and messages by audience. She crafted UT’s first brand book and launched the university’s first digital content marketing program. She also led marketing for Dell’s big data, analytics, and storage portfolio, and was brand manager at AMD for its flagship Athlon products.

De Onís dedicated the first decade of her career to growing the Latin America market for AMD and a few companies in the video conferencing industry, where she led sales and marketing for higher education distance learning. She holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in French and Political Science from the University of Texas at Austin.

“I’m excited to be part of such a well-respected company possessing a storied history as the bellwether of managed technology services for higher education,” said Teresa de Onís. “As the higher ed landscape undergoes unprecedented changes due in part to technological advancements, Apogee has also grown significantly over the last several years to become a trusted higher ed partner. I look forward to further building the company’s visibility with colleges and universities to help them transition and excel in today’s digital age.”
